The manipur State Pharmacy Council is a statutory body constituted under an Act of Indianparliament called Pharmacy Act 1948 (Act No 8 of 1948), www.pci.nic.in/ -- Rules & Regulation.The main objective of manipur State Pharmacy Council is to regulate the professional practice toensure only qualified registered Pharmacist would enter the profession to provide service to thepatient.The prime responsibility of the manipur State Pharmacy Council is to grant registration to the eligiblepharmacists and issue Registration certificate to the persons possessing requisite prescribedqualification as per the provisions of section 32(2) of the Pharmacy Act and to enforce the necessaryprovisions of the Pharmacy Act 1948.The State Pharmacy Council are constituted by every state for the purpose envisaged in the Act andthe each State frame its own Rules to govern the system without any prejudice to the Central Act.
PHARMACY OATH: I swear by the code of ethics of Pharmacy Council of India in relation with the community andshall act as an integral part of health care team. I shall uphold the laws and standards governing my profession. I shall strive to perfect and enlarge my knowledge to contribute to the advancement ofpharmacy and public health. I shall follow the system, which I consider best for pharmaceutical care and counseling ofpatient. I shall endeavor to discover and manufacture drugs of quality to alleviate suffering ofhumanity. I shall hold in confidence the knowledge gained about the patients in connection with myprofessional practice and never divulge unless compelled to do so by the law. I shall associate with organizations having their objectives for betterment of the profession ofpharmacy and make contribution to carry out the work of the organization. While I continue to keep this oath un violated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life andpractice of pharmacy respected by all, in all times! But should I trespass and violate thisoath, may the reverse be my lot!
